Welcome to Wind's End

Wind's End is an interactive story generation experiment created for a Major Qualifying Project (MQP) at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.  This MQP was created from start to finish in merely 6 months.  The purpose of this MQP was to design a game in which the player would not be controlled in any way by the story, but instead the story would conform to the player's actions.

In order to create a game to accomplish this, we developed a system called the Drama Manager.  This Drama Manager keeps track of the level of drama happening in the game and it will increase up to a story climax.  Each NPC in the game has goals, which they want to accomplish.  All of these goals have a drama level and can only be completed if the Drama Managers goal level is at or above their desired level.  This is to make sure that the player does not become overwhelmed in the beginning of the game and also not bored near the end.
